On this page, I have attached several lesson plans to share with you. Feel free to open them up and take a look!
Aspire Testing Lesson
In this lesson, I spent the day working with my 10th graders on test-taking strategies and practice tests in preparation for the Aspire assessment they were completing at the end of the week. See lesson plan and accompanying PowerPoint below.

Socratic Seminar
In this lesson, my students spent their class time engaged in a Socratic seminar based off of their reading material: To Kill a Mockingbird, Tuesdays with Morrie, or Wonder. See lesson plan and accompanying PowerPoint below.

Themes Lesson Part 1
In this mini-lesson, I introduced students to the idea of theme, using short Aesop's fables to help students understand this abstract concept. Included are the lesson plan, PowerPoint, and sample pre-test and post-test from a student in the class.

Themes Lesson Part 2
As a follow-up lesson on themes, I helped students expand their knowledge of this concept by using a short film, teaching them to develop their own theme from a topic they chose, and then writing a short creative or non-fiction story integrating the theme they chose. For an example of the students' short stories, see below. Additionally, the lesson plan and PowerPoint for this lesson have been included for your consideration.
